Hive lamp
Nicholai Wiig Hansen
Taking industrial techniques as his starting point, Nicholai Wiig Hansen has designed a lamp with a simple expression. Hive is a collapsible lamp made of steel. As opposed to being in one piece, its various rings present a contrast to the cast shape. This makes the lamp both interesting and beautiful. Changing colour shades, from dark to light, emphasise its classic beehive shape - hence the name. Hive is not your average lamp. According to its designer, Nicholai Wiig Hansen, it is an example of a lamp that derives from using industrial techniques in the design process in order to create its particular expression. He wanted to design a lamp with a durable design and noticeably classic shape, which would be contrasted by a few, simple details.
Nicholai Wiig Hansen says: "For me, it is the shape of Hive that is interesting. It has the archetypal shape of a lamp and looks like a beehive, but with the extra little detail that it is collapsible. The various layers make it both simple and decorative."
Hive has a durable and clean design that creates a modern feel in any room. Hive comes flat-packed in grey shades with a grey fabric-covered electrical lead.
